Simplified Steps
- Lube and insert to at least 50 cm
- Inject gastric aspiration port and auscultate for placement
- 60 ml of air into gastric balloon port and clamp
- CXR for proper placement of balloon in stomach
- 300-500 ml air to gastric balloon and clamp
- 2 lbs of traction onto tube
- CXR for placement again
- Aspirate gastric and esophageal ports to eval for ongoing bleeding – if yes to go #9
- Inflate esophageal balloon to 20-40 mmHg
- Secure with 2 lbs traction
