Simplified Steps

  1. Lube and insert to at least 50 cm
  2. Inject gastric aspiration port and auscultate for placement
  3. 60 ml of air into gastric balloon port and clamp
  4. CXR for proper placement of balloon in stomach
  5. 300-500 ml air to gastric balloon and clamp
  6. 2 lbs of traction onto tube
  7. CXR for placement again
  8. Aspirate gastric and esophageal ports to eval for ongoing bleeding  – if yes to go #9
  9. Inflate esophageal balloon to 20-40 mmHg
  10. Secure with 2 lbs traction
